El Kallejon - City of New York

I had a fantastic experience at the restaurant! The food was excellent, and they offer a great selection of Mezcal and tequila. I highly recommend it!

The drinks were excellent, although they were a bit pricey for this island. They had an extensive selection of cocktails available. However, the music was too loud; they mentioned they would turn it down, but it didn’t change. The seating was comfortable, allowing us to avoid being too close to other people, yet we still struggled to hear each other—definitely a challenge for three guys in their 60s trying to chat. On a positive note, the Hemingway cocktail I ordered was really good, albeit a bit small. The ambiance was nice, but for some reason, they kept the door locked, so guests had to be buzzed in. It was either Friday or Saturday night, and the place was quite empty, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. On our way out, I noticed some guests had ordered food, but we were never offered a menu, which was a missed opportunity. Hopefully, next time!

El Kallejon is absolutely delicious, unique, and authentic. You won't encounter a more genuine New York City experience than the one offered here, with its creativity and realness. Each dish, from the shark to the guacamole to the ceviche, transports you to Mexico in a way that few other restaurants can. The drinks are delightful and perfectly balanced. The service is both friendly and prompt. The decor is original and beautifully executed. I highly recommend El Kallejon to both New Yorkers and tourists.

We had the most wonderful dinner here. We got drink specials and a whole bunch of different options off of the menu. Everything was super fresh and cooked to perfection. The salmon ceviche was the best I?ve ever had. I tried the baby shark, a first for me,and it was better than I could have ever imaged. We also tried the brains and were a little apprehensive at first but it was aphenomenal dish. You could taste the love they put into their food. We had a large party and our waiter was so attentive andkind. He let us know their kitchen was small since we were such a large group but the food came in a timely manner and ourdrinks were never empty. They also have a beautiful back yard we wish we got to enjoy but it was raining when we went. We willdefinitely be back to dine outside!

Absolutely in love with this restaurant. Drawn in last week while exploring around Harlem ? you can see their colorful exterior from 3rd Ave. Atmosphere is relaxed, familiar, and over-stuffed with the best kind of kitsch/camp decor. Visually intoxicating.The people are super friendly and engaging, the delicious food will blow you away. Great selection of Mezcal. Perfect spot for adate or small group. Go now! 10/10
