When they see me (or my husband) come in (I am a creature of habit), they already have the order ready to make just like I like it. Staff is friendly. When Covid hit and businesses took a beating, even under duress, the staff was great!
This is a marvelous place to eat lunch. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is helpful. I was visiting with a disabled friend, and it is very user friendly. No one rushed her or seemed bothered by her need to respond with some confusion. I was very impressed, not only with the food, but also the employees. We will definitely return!
They have pretty good bagels and a variety of sandwich offerings. Nothing bad but nothing exciting. The staff do a good job but without much passion for what they are doing.
Allow me to say, I had never been in this venue before, but tonight I stopped. I needed dinner. I found both the person at the register and the person who prepared my food to be polite and accommodating. HOWEVER the food was atrocious! I ordered a salad that was so gross, I ate less than 1/2 of it and threw the rest away. I also tried their pasta salad two bites in, I threw that away too. Both dishes tasted much the same. I can honestly say that there's about $8.00 (I did gag and choke about 1/2 the salad down) I'll never get back. I made myself a tuna melt and called it dinner. I won't go back here.
I've gone here off an on for several years. After a year or two I think, hey why not try this place again to see if anything has changed? But it remains exactly the same. The attitude of the staff, particularly behind the register, ranges from rude to unbelievably rude. These kids are in for a surprise if they think taking people's food order is a demanding job situation. The food on its own is pretty good, although overpriced. Lunch for 2 is pushing $30 for 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips and 1 bottled water. It's the sides where they really price gouge. They use Ithaca's collegetown bagels, which are very good. But then they microwave the eggs which is really gross. How hard is it to fry an egg? With the attitude of the staff, which takes place in full view of the owner no less, I think I'll remember next time why I stopped going here and keep bringing my business elsewhere. There's something odd going on here if a dozen employees spread over 5+ years all disrespect paying customers from the moment they walk in the place. No, thanks.
