A bit on the expensive side for sandwiches and the "Super Bowl" is not that "super".I have been given slices of beef cut in the fat area. Not good and I had to bring my plate back to get it changed. It should have not even been served. The "home chips" are nothing like chips. Just over roasted half small potatoes! Hard shell and floury from overcoming. The salad is tiny. The grain mustard is a nice addition.Annoying to have to ask for salt and pepper as they are not available on table. Then the waiter comes with the huge pepper mill and grins it himself over the plate... Frustrating.Coffee is OK. Nothing exceptional. This was my second visit as I work in the same building. I think I will bring my own lunch in the future.
I had flown into Canberra to sort out a highly stressful passport issue and needed a good coffee and something to eat.I'm super pleased that I stumbled on this place, the coffee was fantastic,Te food fresh and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, completely turned around a very full on day
This now my regular coffee spot. Been to a few in the area and the milk crate is the only one that makes a great coffee you can taste, every time. I also love their toasted cheese and tomato, the bread they use is . Their turkey bacon roll is also amazing. Well worth a try! There staff there are relaxed and casual and good for a laugh!
On a cold morning the hot chocolates were absolutely delicious - very well made. The coffee was excellent, and the maple bagel is a must-try!!
Hmmm not sure what the day brings ahead... Had some ideas but let's see. Feeling hungry.... Eager to check out what Canberra has to offer. Heard from the uber driver CBR is on the up. Thinking of uber... I wish other Aussie Capital city airports would catch on... Dedicated uber lounge for pickup and drop off... Awesome!! Anyway getting off track... Quick look at goggle for what's cooking in CBR for breakfast these days?? Everything is pointing to this place called the cupping room... Hmm lets see. It's a small 10 -15 mins stroll from the yha. Who knows what I'll find along the way... Through the mall... Not much jumping out... Well maybe the cupping room it is... Cross the national highway and something grabs my eye.... MILK CRATE... Looks funky... Nice wooden tables atop stacked milk crates, alfresco style with funky beats, good coffee and a simple but fresh menu. At 8:15 am there was one person in line as I arrived. Standard flat white ordered and before having a chance to ask for the menu I am ushered aside to contemplate what to eat.... "No need to pay for the coffee yet" says the girl serving behind the counter. The menu is simple and fresh... as I'm not yet sure if this is a full breakfast or just a taste I start with something light... A 'Smashy' - Avacado, Tomato & Fetta Toastie $9.50. I then take a cozy crate near the heater, making light conversation with an elderly gentleman dressed disquingishabry in a top hat, coat and scarf as I pick up one of the complimentary morning papers. My name is called within a minute of sitting down. Coffee is ready! As I sit here sipping my coffee, seeing my breath exhale in the 6 degree air, I count 14 people now in line and more arriving... Mainly business suits and dresses with long scarves, all huddling under the well needed gas heaters which I'm loving the 'just right' feel of warmth on the back of my neck. Now I know why the girl behind the counter seemed a little short with me as I asked about the menu... Not rude but obviously knowing that the usual morning rush was hot on my heels Make sure you definitively drop in to MILK CRATE when your next in Canberra and looking for a great way to start the day!Like I said best plans are no plans. 8:41 AM and all quiet again! 12 Moore StreetCanberra ACT 2601Australia
