Dosa Kitchen - Christchurch

Very lovely people and good dosas! If you're in the Riverside Market, I'd say Dosa Kitchen is one of the best establishments to buy from. Sure it may be a bit of a challenge to find a place to sit, but is that not simply a mark of a busy and successful business? And what's a good business without good food?

Ordered take away korma but we got tika marsala who cares because it was gorgeous. Had chicken Pakora these are little bites of deliciousness, poppadoms and naan really good too. Nicest naan we have had. Only negative were onion bajis were a little dry. But definitely ordering from here again great food guys.

Venu and his team make the best dosas and curries in NZ and this place is a must-try if you are in Christchurch! Don't be fooled by Riverside Market being closed after 6pm as Dosa Kitchen is still opened in the market everyday until 8pm from Mondays to Thursdays and until 9pm from Fridays to Sundays. Curries: Jackfruit Masala is an innovative curry creation that is a must-try if you want something different from the usual Butter Chicken/Chicken Tikka Masala. All curries are made upon ordering, make sure you add a Garlic Naan/Cheese Naan to go along with the curry! Dosas: Highly recommend Mysore Masala Dosa for those who love spicy food, the coconut chutney that comes along with it is superb! Drinks: Mango Lassi is freshly made on a daily basis

Ordered two curries and a naan lunch meal with butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. Butter chicken didn't taste the way its normally done in NZ, tikka was good. Both curries were a bit more watery, so that's something to take note of if you were wanting the creamier version. Also had the masala chai which tasted good but was a bit too sweet. Think their dosas are a better option.

Yum! After wandering around the Riverside Market a couple of times, I settled on this restaurant and wasn’t disappointed. The masala dosa and chutneys were excellent and the samosas were great. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient, the restaurant was clean, and the prices were reasonable. Highly recommend!
