Islands Chino

I ordered pickup of the chicken tortilla soup, but it was disappointing. There was barely any chicken—just a few small strands—and hardly anything else. I only found two pieces of avocado and no cheese at all. I picked it up at 8:40 PM, and I think we might have received the last of what was left in the pot. The container was filled about 75%, but it was mostly broth. I would recommend getting this earlier in the day instead.

We arrived at 1:00 PM, and the restaurant was nearly empty, with only about three other tables occupied. The service was a bit slow. I ordered the Pipeline Burger, but the chili had no flavor at all—it really didn't enhance the burger in any way. The fries were the standout item; they reminded me of In-N-Out fries. Honestly, I wish we had chosen to go there instead.

This restaurant is a classic, and it's disheartening to see many like it closing down. They offer decent burgers; I usually go for the veggie burger because it has a wonderful flavor and is quite thick! However, this time we decided to try the Impossible patty, and I was a bit let down. The taste was lacking, and it was very thin. I think I'll stick to the veggie patty in the future. As for the sweet potato fries, they were rather soggy, so I would recommend opting for regular fries next time. Also, the ranch dressing was surprisingly watery; it seemed like it had been diluted with water and ended up dripping everywhere! On the positive side, the service was good, and the atmosphere is always relaxed and enjoyable.

Having my car serviced so Wife and I stopped in for a late lunch. Cool vibe. Very friendly staff. Good crispy chicken sandwich. Wife had sliders. Best news is, we have leftovers. We will return.
