Ra Sushi Bar Restaurant Chino Hills, Ca

We've had Great Sushi and We've had Bad Sushi and RA lies somewhere in the middle.. Some of the Sauce combinations were weird.. Especially, the Shrimp and Lobster Roll.

I was told that there were no reservations under my name when clearly there was. I even shoeless the email confirmation.

We opted to eat outside because indoors was actually colder. We sat near a heater incase we would need it. Only needed it towards the tail end of our dinner which was around 9pm. Food was good, the sake sangria was a nice surprise, and service was great. Checked on us enough times for water refills but not too much where it would be annoying. Great place to just chill, eat and talk.

I 've going to the Chino Hills location for over 10 years and the servers are always EXCELLENT. The manager addressed the issue of missing sashimi pieces in my order and the server was very gracious. I think the problem has always been with the sushi chefs. Their cuts are always inconsistent (sometimes it 's good and sometimes they give end pieces that look like it 's been squashed by a butcher knife). HQ needs to place better sushi chefs. The open kitchen has allowed me to view how these sushi chefs work over the years and they are slow, imprecise and they tend to dawdle. Aside from bad sushi chefs, servers and the manager are good. But since Ra 's been bought out by Benihana, I hope the lively atmosphere of this location isn 't watered down by changes in branding. We always go here for birthday celebrations, but since the buy-out, we 're going to think twice about Ra. Conclusion: service and manager are good. Sushi chefs need to be cut out and replaced!

Had a reservation, arrived 15 min early and was seated right away. Server did not appear at our table until almost 45 min later. Dinner took three hours due to the service being so slow. Food was great, but not worth the $300 bill for 5 people with only a few rounds for 2 people of happy hour drinks.
