Worst part was feeling rushed as they were in a hurry to close early apparently. Ambience was nice. Felt like it should have been a better experience than it was. Will not return. Service: Dine in

What the hell has happened to Etta's? This used to be one of the best, if not the best restaurant on the island. Now, it has become a tourist trap unconcerned about the dining experience. Indonesian flounder? In Chincoteague? Really? Prepackaged coconut shrimp? Out of oysters in the oyster capital of the east coast? I'm guessing the scallops were frozen too. Is your 35 dollar (yes 35) seafood dinner all fried frozen seafood? Seems that way. We asked for a house salad instead of a Caesar salad. We were told that they were out of onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers, so the salad would be croutons and lettuce. No tomatoes? Who doesn't have tomatoes? No cucumbers? Cucumbers are everywhere. No onions? Come on folks...every restaurant everywhere has onions. Frozen blackened mahi? Guys, Chincoteague is a fishing paradise, why are you using prepackaged frozen fish from Vietnam? While we are on the subject of blackening seasoning: Folks...blackening seasoning involves paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, cayenne pepper, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Not just putting char marks on a freezer burnt fish. I asked to speak to a manager but they refused to come out. Apparently this is normal here. Let me state that again: The manager/owner refuses to come out...ever. We were told that by multiple employees. Who does that if you truly care about your customer. Or your business? Or your community? The issue here is not service, who are truly wonderful people, or the view, which is amazing. The issue is clearly ownership and management which is obviously cutting corners to gouge customers. I've been coming to Chincoteague for over 45 years. This will be my last visit to Etta's. Spend your money at Don's, AJs, Village, or even Maria's.
