We used to frequent the Raj Gate restaurant for several years, but it recently re-opened as the MUGHAL PALACE. We visited for a takeaway and were very impressed. We would highly recommend it. Despite living in Chorleywood, we felt that it was worth making the journey to visit the Mughal Palace as we have not been impressed with other restaurants closer to home.
I highly recommend dining in or getting takeout from this restaurant. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is delicious. My favorite dish is the chicken korma, and the one served here is one of the best I've had!
I've eaten at the Raj in the past and I'd found it pleasant enough a couple of years ago. They're either under pressure or having a bad time because without mincing words they are rude and aggressive. The food isn't bad, infact it's reasonably well presented and whilst initial service is a little abrupt, when you're sat chatting with friends over a coffee you and might just have something else, to have some obnoxious man bang the card machine on the table and demand payment immediately is beyond rude. My party behaved impecably in a respectful and polite way, however the behaviour of the staff verged on offensive and ignorant. Is there any point becoming confrontational with them? No! However, given the number of friendly restaurants nearby, what would you prefer? Hospitality or Rudeness? I shalln't ever use them again nor would I ever recommend them. It wasnt as though they were in need of a table, infact the place was a bit like a ghost ship. Another thing, if you turn down a pint of beer when you don't drink, isn't it a bit weird to have them rebuff you and huff and ridicule you when they themselves don't drink alchohol either? The inside of the front window is a bit mouldy and the place a bit run down, but when the food is OK, being rude to patrons and behaving in such an aggressive way isn't just a disgrace, it's tragic. Avoid.
Good food, they might have upped their game as they knew we are from the Black Country where we have 300 different Indian and Asian restaurants. Chicken Achari was completely to my liking. I asked for tikka meat, this was great and tasty. Chutneys were great. Cobra beer from bottle and cold. Price was average for the area, if anything could be changed maybe the decor could show the region from where they are from instead of Australia map and a big butterfly and marlin. Slightly confusing but don’t let this deter from great tasting food. Rice was fluffy, nan excellent. 10 out of 10 from Us !
