Matilda's - Chiltern

Unfortunately, my vegan sandwich (marked on the menu and given on the order) was prepared with milk fat. When I asked the waitress who checked with the chef, I was told that it was due to a new chef who made it with butter... if it didn't normally have such an ingredient. they did not seem to take the thing seriously, but asked if I wanted to make one. I was offered an apology only once I let them know that this was not acceptable, late in the conversation. I cannot recommend matilda for those who suffer with allergies or with food restrictions.

Group of us visited on a very busy Saturday lunchtime. The ambience of the cafe is good, and we were very happy with the food we ordered- hot and fresh. One query was the ladies waiting on tables- simply because they seemed to be disorganised...and consequently the taking of orders was in a sequence unrelated to arrival. We had to ask to place our order, because the waitress who welcomed us then appeared uninterested in taking an order.

Great menu with lots of tempting choices. We had the vegan breakfast and scampi chips. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty especially the vegan breakfast. Nicky presented and good value for money

We enjoyed the food and it was fair sized portions, but it is expensive for a cafe and overpriced. Nice waiting staff.

Absolutely excellent food. Wee bit too dear. The breakfasts and milkshakes are spot on. Seems to be a place of interest for cyclists.
