Basque Norte /steakhouse - Chico

Although it was a bit busy, the service was satisfactory, and there was plenty of food. However, with steaks priced at $50 or more, it simply isn't worth it. I've had $20 steaks that far exceeded these in quality. Overall, the meal was rather disappointing. We waited an hour for our steak, and while we were provided with salad, bread, beans, and spaghetti during the wait, everything seemed excessively drenched in oil and butter. Additionally, some alcoholic beverages were priced at $18 a glass. After spending well over $100 for two people, I hoped to walk away with a memorable experience, but instead, I felt it was not worth the cost. I won't be returning, as I know I can find a far better experience for significantly less money elsewhere.

Our friends from Chico took us to dinner at their favorite restaurant, and we quickly realized that the atmosphere was unique. While the food was fantastic, it was the staff that truly set this place apart. They worked together like a well-oiled machine, and their vibrant personalities brightened the restaurant more than any lighting could. They interacted with every customer in a way we’ve never experienced before, turning our meal into a memorable occasion. The owners have created an incredible team, which is a testament to the lasting charm of this wonderful spot. We're so glad we had the chance to enjoy this experience!

The sides are served family-style, which I enjoy, but unfortunately, they were quite disappointing. We started with a very acidic tomato soup that lacked any flavor beyond tomato puree, along with a basic romaine lettuce salad with house dressing. You can get it refilled as much as you like, but the initial serving is only about the size of a small salad for one or two people. The beans were extremely bland, and the potatoes, if I recall correctly, were simply steamed and also lacking in flavor. The green beans served were basic frozen ones, which isn’t a problem in itself, but for a $40-50 dish, I expected better. At the very least, some haricots verts would have been appreciated. On a positive note, the bartender made excellent drinks, so I hope they keep him around. Overall, I found this place disappointing. The food was overpriced given the quality, and it was severely underseasoned. I expected much higher-quality ingredients for the cost of the dishes. If you're looking for a good steak, I recommend going to 5th Street instead; they offer much better quality at a similar price point.

Service was absolutely horrible!!! Hardly ever saw a waiter or a waitress! Waited forever for our bill! Our visit was 3 hours long and was ignored almost the entire time

Basque Norte is one the best places to eat the food is fabulous and the service is the best.
