This was my first time ever visiting Chicago and I can't say enough about it. I ate here before the remodeling, however will say the ambience at the time was very nice. The lighting was just right, choice in dish-ware was unique. My only complaint would be that it was a bit loud (we were sat next to a larger table) which isn't always the most romantic for date night. The food was very unique and I could not stop gloating over the dessert. I also discovered Foie gras for the first time-a new favorite I might add. There was some unique complimentary dishes as well. The courses were fairly filling. Overall I was impressed. I guess my only wish would have been that there was better tables for couples versus being sat next to large groups.
Fantastic service and food, almost everything hit the mark from what I would expect of a place like this. Service was attentive without feeling overbearing, always there right when I needed them or sometimes just before. Excellent wine and cocktails to pair with your courses. If you can't get a table just a seat at the bar for one of the cocktails would be worth going out of your way for. All of the food was well presented and of very high quality. Portions were good and large enough to share a tasting bite with a partner. Decor and atmosphere have a nice late 19th century feel to them. Lighting was dim but not so much as to impede reading the menu. My only complaint would be the tables, which have a sort of semi cushioned top that felt like I was in danger of toppling the water glass, but this was minor and didn't detract from the overall experience. Would definitely come back, if to just try more of the cocktail menu.
Delicious we went there last night to celebrate my birthday and had an incredible time. We got lucky and our waiter arranged for us to get a tour of the kitchen. I'm not sure if other people ask for the tour at this restaurant (I've seen people get tours of Acadia, Next and Alinea) but it was still cool to see. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
Amazing restaurant. Quite expensive, but worth it for sure. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Came here on a Thursday night with colleagues and had the tasting menu, optional courses and wine paring. We had an amazing night. I had the caviar, hiramasa crudo, sourdough cavatelli, halibut, tête de moine, brown sugar pavlova. It all looked and tasted amazing. The waiter was fabulous and she explained and recommended the perfect dishes. The restaurant was very pleasant, beautiful decor and I had the best time ever! I would highly recommend!
