The Pasta Bowl - Chicago

This pasta restaurant offers fantastic value. Most dishes are priced around $20, but the portion sizes are generous. They also have daily drink specials that make it affordable to indulge. We started with the cheesy bread, which was served with a smooth marinara dipping sauce. The sauce was just the right consistency—not too thick or salty—allowing the flavor of the cheese to shine, unlike what I've experienced at some other Italian places. I ordered the Farfalle Pollo, which featured tender slices of chicken and a cream sauce with peppers. The tortellini was good, but it didn't stand out as much as the appetizer or the Farfalle.

This is a solid spot for pasta. We tried the Caballo Blanco and the Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare. The Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare was outstanding, featuring a rich sauce packed with shrimp, scallops, and mussels that I really enjoyed. However, the Caballo Blanco didn't quite satisfy my taste. The noodles were undercooked and somewhat dry, and there wasn't enough sauce to complement them.

I took my friend out for dinner here, and we had an absolute blast! We've both dined here before, and I've been coming to this place my whole life, so I thought it was high time I shared a review. My family and I have had countless laughs at the Pasta Bowl locations, and the food is simply fantastic. My top two dishes are the conchiglie gorgonzola and the lobster ravioli—both are outstanding. My friend ordered the daily special, and it was delicious as well. I also enjoyed their Paloma drink. The staff was warm and friendly, although it sometimes took a little while to get their attention. The atmosphere is usually lively and energetic. This is definitely a place I’ll return to!

I visited this restaurant with a group of 13, and while they accommodated us, I was informed that they typically don't accept large groups, despite their website claiming that they are great for such gatherings. We were seated near the kitchen, which had an unpleasant smell reminiscent of mop water. I ordered the Gnocchi with Rosemary and Gorgonzola, but it was far too salty and lacking in flavor. I was hoping for a more prominent rosemary taste rather than an overpowering saltiness. I understand that Gorgonzola is salty, but it seemed like additional salt had been added unnecessarily. The highlight of the experience was our waiter, who was dedicated to providing excellent service. I would suggest updating the website to clarify the limitations on group sizes so that people are aware before they arrive. Additionally, I think the quality of the dishes could be improved; I've had some delicious pasta in the past, but this wasn't one of those times.

You can't go wrong with a generous serving of pasta! On our date night, we each ordered different dishes, and both were incredibly delicious—rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. I tried the lucky penne, which I usually don't order, and I was pleasantly surprised by how great it was. It had a creamy texture with just the right amount of spice. I also added chicken, which really enhanced the flavor. My fiancée’s dish was equally delightful. Our server was friendly, and the service was impressively quick. Despite the restaurant being busy, we didn’t have to wait long for either our appetizer or our main course. Plus, watching the line cooks prepare the meals was a fantastic experience in itself.
