Meli Cafe - Chicago

The food here is actually pretty good! I don't think the price is cheap, but the taste was beyond my expectation.

I just had a good mocha coffee in this place since we just had breakfast somewhere.

The original Meli was my all time favorite, but I now have a new favorite!! Went here for brunch on a Saturday morning.

The restaurant owner was surprisingly terrible. We came with a party of 3 and we stated we had 3 more coming. The owner said he would combine tables once the people were at the restaurant. After 5 min, our party arrived (all minorities) and then the ownersaid he couldn't combine tables. I pointed out that several other parties had combined tables and he told me he knows how to dohis job. I asked if he was the owner and he said yes. I told him I intend to write a review about our experience today and hesaid good. He had no intentions of trying to make it right or court our future service. It's clear that he had animositytowards us. In addition, the food was terrible and we had several overripe strawberries in our fruit cup and on our pancakes(see picture). The waitress was very nice, but that was the only good part about this place. It goes without saying, but Iwill not be returning and I hope that my honest experience keeps other people from visiting the restaurant with an owner that seems not to care about providing acceptable service.

Good quesadillas! I didn?t like the banana Bread French toast and they swapped it no questions for the tacos. Seated very quickly with short wait and no reservations. Martina is very kind!
