Kumiko - Chicago

We went here for cocktails and some food to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time here and I can say that this is probably my favorite dining bar. The moment we stepped inside, it already gives you a sense of warmth and hospitality. We got to our table and it had ambient lighting and I can say very intimate and personal. Again that sense of warmth that make you comfortable. We described to Eli what we were looking to drink and he recommended drinks which were exactly what we wanted. I also wanted to note that the food was really good. We had oysters, karaage, potato salad, pork belly, katsu sando and did I say oysters already? It was so good we had to order six oysters twice. Overall, our cocktails and food are 10/10. We would definitely come back (hoping to be more often). I now understand why it is rated as one of the best bars in the world. A real find. Post theater dining is always an issue and this was the only 10:30 available near the Goodman. What a perfect choice. Japanese comfort food, a huge cocktail menu, lovely atmosphere, and remarkable service. My companion was cool and they quickly offered her a blanket. The low lighting made me turn on my phone light to see the menu and they promptly brought us a small discreet table lamp. Our waiter, Eli, guided us to perfect choices.

This place is absolutely magical....the cocktails are prepared and presented with impeccable taste....the food options are authentic and a perfect compliment to the drinks....the aura and ambiance of the place cannot be replicated....this is a real gem.
