Jamaican Gates - Chicago

I really enjoy the oxtails and yams. The jerk chicken is also quite tasty. Overall, I’d rate the food a 4 out of 5.

This is the very 1st J restaurant where EVERYTHING was good and fresh. I had oxtails, j chicken, cabbage, Mac and Cheese, yams, peas and rice, and plantain. My Ma had a full dark j chicken dinner as well. The Mac and cheese was seasoned to perfection and cheesy as ever (no egg; baked). The yams not overly sweet, j chicken just right. The cabbage is consistently good. Only disappointment was the size oxtail they give is small. (4 little pieces and 1 big. Thats everywhere though) EVERYTHING was hot, and did I say fresh?? glad it's right around my Mas house. I'll be eating here much more often!! This was dinner.

I ordered j catfish, and unfortunately, it was overcooked and burnt. They also forgot to include my plantains. When I called to address the issue, the woman I spoke to was very rude and unprofessional, showing no willingness to help me as a customer, especially considering I spent almost $30. Her response was to contact DoorDash. Wow!

My food has always been delicious and hot. Plenty of food. Wait time is not too long.Food: 5/5

The food is always good. I had the j catfish dinner as well as a j chicken dinner.Sides were cabbage (the best)Peas and rice , very good Sweet potatoes so goodIt's a yes for me
