Good To Go Jamaican Cuisine - Chicago

I had been looking forward to checking this place out. We unexpectedly had dinner there but the service was inattentive the food was dry, except the brown stew dish. In fairness it was a holiday so perhaps they were understaffed. Our waitress left the restaurant without even saying anything and before we were served no one informed us. Strange. I love the rooftop vibe hope to come back for some live entertainment.

Made reservations for rooftop, then we're told there was an additional charge, which was okay until they told us we could only sit at the bar and they didn't have a table for us. Food was very good. Mixed drink was okay. Would return for the food but more likely to grab it and go.Food: 5/5

First off let me say I’ve dined here before several times! But last night will definitely be my last time, barring some minor miracle! I came in and order the ox tails with collard greens and rice and peas. My food came and I thought I was being pranked! Now by no stretch of the imagination am I cheap or a glutton! But for 37$ for oxtails and 1$ up charge for a miniature saucer of greens and dry rice and peas, I should never have to stop and pick something on the way home because I’m still hungry! The portions were so small that I couldn’t believe they actually had the nerve to call this a real entree! And to top it off one the miniature pieces was all fat and no meat! Now I’ve been here before and never had this problem! I felt ripped off , especially after drive all the way from the south side of Chicago to Evanston just to patronize your establishment! The waitress upon me leaving asked did I enjoy my food and evening here , I responded no and proceeded to politely tell her about the portion size. She agreed and said yeah we only give 5 small pieces now, sorry. Which was real one oxtail chopped up into pieces! She asked did I wanna see the manager I said sure and was very polite! After waiting for a decent amount of time with no manager coming to address me or explain I just left! This why it’s hard to support our own people as blacks no matter what your origin is we all black! But I don’t wanna feel ripped off by my own. And this is why a lot of black businesses don’t survive, the greed aspect! The decor and atmosphere in this place is top notch I can’t lie! But I’m not traveling that far to look at decor and leave unsatisfied! But y’all should and can do better! VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER! I’m sure my opinion doesn’t matter to y’all in the grand scheme of things but believe me, if this practice continues the doors will be closed before you know it! Be better!

Incredible food, beautiful restaurant with patio and rooftop seating. They have live music on weekends. A nice place for families, friends or a romantic evening. Portions are generous so you might want to share or be ready for leftovers. J Chicken is fabulous and they have great salmon. We love their plantains and steamed cabbage. They make a yummy macaroni and cheese and my son likes their fried chicken if you want something less spicy.

Had a chance to visit for lunch, let me tell you if you want real real authentic Jamaican food please stop here. Met Miss Sonia the chef OMG she is pure light just like the food she creates. A walk down memory lane. Thank you guys for having us, fantastic meal and vibes.
