Ethiopian Diamond Restaurant - Chicago

Good location with plenty of street parking. Food is undeniably the best around; good selection of dishes with lots of vegetarian and meat friendly options. The Ethiopian honey wines is a delight.Food: 5/5

I ordered takeout. Meat Sampler was good but I almost cracked my tooth a few times on bone shards in one of the sauces. They gave us the wrong filling for the Sambusas. There was NO ICE CREAM with the Chocolate Diamond (chocolate cake). I don't know if they forgot or ran out but when you order chocolate cake with ice cream, you expect chocolate cake and ice cream. I opened the styrofoam box ready to devour and there was a chocolate puck on top of fried chips. No vanilla ice cream. They weren’t even busy when I went to pick up; restaurant was almost empty.

I go here every month or so and I have noticed that the freshness of the food has decreased a bit. The leftovers went bad in my fridge after less than a day. However, the samplers are still a good deal and are very tasty when eaten in the restaurant. This time the service was absolutely horrible as well we actually had to flag the server down and she would take 10 15 mins to get basic things we requested (napkins, bags for leftovers, etc).

Service and atmosphere is really good. The vegetarian combo is good but not the best one I’ve ever had.Food: 4/5

I highly recommend the Ethiopian Diamond Restaurant Bar to anyone looking for an authentic Ethiopian dining experience. The meat sampler and the Chocolate Diamond Royal dessert were fantastic, and the coffee was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, making it a great place to visit with friends or family. Don't miss out on this amazing spot!
