Carol's Pub - Chicago

What can I say? Carlo's Pub is an iconic destination that has stood the test of time for decades. The live music is fantastic, the staff is friendly (a special shoutout to Hannah for her great service), and they serve a delicious burger. As for kid-friendliness: it's a bar, so I recommend leaving the little ones at home and letting the adults enjoy their time.

We tried a variety of drinks, and I was impressed by the selection on draft—it had some solid options. The food also looked appealing. We ordered hush puppies, and I mistakenly asked for buffalo chicken wings but received chicken tenders instead (I didn’t mention the mix-up). The hush puppies turned out to be quite tasty, while the chicken tenders were good, though rather standard. I definitely want to return and try their burgers next time! Overall, the vibe was great, and I felt completely comfortable as a queer person, which is always a relief. Considering it’s located in Uptown, I expected a welcoming atmosphere but was initially concerned because it’s a country bar—I really didn’t know what to expect. However, I had a wonderful time with my other queer friend, so kudos to them for being LGBTQ+ friendly. They also have patio seating on Leland, and during warmer evenings, they open the large windows on both sides, enhancing the ambiance. I highly recommend this spot! And just so you know, it doesn’t feel like a dive bar at all; it’s a pretty spacious place.

Carol's is the best! Their patio is a go-to on warm days, and it's a fun spot for live music at night. They have excellent cocktails, great bar food, fast service. Highly recommend!

Come for the food, drink and honky tonk atmosphere, stay for the best real country music in the city. Did I mention the friendly staff and great service? Recommend reserving a table Friday or Saturday nights to be sure to get a seat.
