Black Barrel Tavern Old Town - Chicago

We asked the waitress specifically to check with the kitchen to make sure that the turkeyburger was unseasonal meat. She did. We were told the kitchen said “Zero”. Not even near true! Eatable for someone with allergies. Eat. If you are interested in what is in your food, don't eat here. (Only for drinks: tram noise was surprisingly loud in conversation).

Our waitress never explained that they had a draft beer selection when I only noticed 2 IPA on the bottles and cans list on the menu. My husband also ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich and she brought him a buffalo chicken sandwich... We didn't tell her, and he just ate it. We'll try again.

This place was great. Food and service were wonderful.

Worst Service I have ever experienced at Brunch. Music rays in our ear of outdoor speakers better suited for a club on a Saturday night than brunch on a Sunday. The food was decent, but took 3 requests to get our drinks. He was waiting for our cutlery for almost 10 minutes, so the food was cold when we had to eat it. I wanted to get a box to take leftovers home, but after almost 20 minutes waiting for our bill, the food was covered with bees and flies, so it was was was wasted.

We loved the Black Barrel. We chose it because my daughter had her dog with her and we wanted to sit outside. When we got there the owner told us we were more that welcome to sit outside but it was supposed to start raining in 10 minutes. So we chose to sit inside. They brought out a water bowl for the dog and a plate of watermelon slices. Max (the dog) happens to LOVE watermelon. He ate the first plate and they brought him another. Our food came out SUPER fast, I mean like five minutes after we ordered. Everything was delicious!
