The Hummingbird - Chicago Heights

During my first trip to Chicago, I decided to sample some Jamaican cuisine and came across this restaurant on Google. When I arrived, the place was empty but adorned with vibrant artwork on the walls, giving me a good impression about the food. The owner, Louie Louie, wasn't immediately visible, which heightened my anticipation. He warmly welcomed my mother and me with a smile, and we had a pleasant chat before indulging in some delicious curry goat. Louie was very generous, surprising us with additional dishes we hadn't ordered. He even packed up some jerk chicken for us to take home, which I enjoyed the next day for breakfast in another state. The jerk seasoning was perfectly balanced, complemented by both dry spices and a tasty side sauce. I'll definitely return on my next visit to Chicago for a longer stay. I have been to this restaurant twice and I highly suggest trying the jerk chicken stir fry. The mac and cheese was a little dry, but the other dishes we sampled were tasty. The food may take some time to be served, but it is definitely worth the wait. Be sure to inquire about the bread and plantains, as I was unaware of them during my first visit.

The food at this restaurant is incredible. It surpassed all of my expectations. The jerk chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the rice and peas were delicious, and even the steamed vegetables were excellent. The addition of the perfectly cooked plantains made me a very happy customer. The staff and owner were extremely friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms were also very clean. This restaurant is a hidden gem. We will definitely be returning!

The food at this restaurant is delicious and it is recommended to call ahead before visiting. I have tried several dishes and have never been disappointed. I always make sure to order the beef patties when I go there, they are that good. I also highly recommend trying the Jerk Turkey for Thanksgiving, it is absolutely delicious.

This place is the best. The jerk turkey is amazing.
