The food was expertly prepared and presented and delicious. This restaurant has a traditional environment which may not be to everyone’s taste but for those of us who value a high end dining experience but in a relaxed, non fussy way this is great. Highly recommended.
While on the high side for dinner was fantastic. Service was one of the best. Only issue we sat near the back hall and they were moving chairs all night by us in and out. Great dinner but 200.00 will limite me to a few times year
Nice atmosphere excelllent steak!. I had the pleasure of dining at the Capital Grille a few nights ago. I must say that somehow thought I wouldn't like it as it looks like a large chain restaurant. And given its location in Chevy Chase, I figured that it would be just another expensive, overpriced, pretentious restaurant. Outward appearances can be deceiving! I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable atmosphere, welcoming service, and excellent food. I started with the French onion soup, and my dining companion had the calamari. For mains, we both had the dry aged Porterhouse steak, which was excellent (although the portion size at 24 oz. was too much for me! . Sides were creamed spinach and parmesan truffle fries, which were very good too. Dessert was a luscious crème brûlée and a refreshing key lime pie, neither of which we finished since we were so full. It was a pricey meal, but all in all, we were impressed. I don't have a favorite steakhouse in DC yet one that combines a great atmosphere, excellent service, and outstanding food a place like Keen's in New York City. Most DC steakhouses leave me a bit cold. I'm not sure that the Capital Grille has it all, but if first impressions are any indication, it's worth a return visit. P.S Lunch prices are reasonable with most steaks in the $24 $29 range (including a side dish . Lunch salads and sandwiches are roughly $15 $20.
Here is a quick review on Capital Grille which is a pretty good place. I went out with a few friends on afternoon for lunch. The restaurant is upscale, with a couple of high end items, wines, and entrees. We sat at the bar with a few appetizers and drinks. So here is a few things we ordered: This first appetizer was smoked salmon with capers, diced onions, dill sauce, sliced lemon and crackers. The salmon was excellent, a bit salty, but still had the fresh taste. This was the fried calamari with peppers and sliced lemon. Both rings and tentacles were friend in a seasoned batter and tossed with a few spicy peppers. The appetizer I had ordered was a fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil salad with diced seasoned tomato, aged balsamic, and olive oil. Sea salt sprinkled on the top gave it a salty, but garden fresh taste. The aged balsamic was excellent with this dish. This salad was a classic wedge with pieces of bacon, blue cheese dressing and sliced seasonal tomatoes. The bacon was a gre
Overall, the lunch Plates option at The Capital Grille is a great deal and left me fully satisfied to carry on throughout the rest of my busy day.
