Siam Palace - Chesterfield

The food is exceptional, and the atmosphere is genuinely authentic. This restaurant is my go-to spot for special occasions, and I've always been pleased with both the service and the food. Everything is delivered to a high standard, and the menu is outstanding. It’s definitely one of the best dining places in Chesterfield. If you mention that it’s your birthday, you’ll be treated to a delightful dessert while the staff serenades you with "Happy Birthday" in a karaoke style. It's quite entertaining, especially after enjoying a few drinks!

Overall, it was just an average experience. I ordered the spring rolls and Panang curry. The curry's flavor didn't quite hit the mark, and it seemed like they used some unconventional spices to add heat, which was a bit strange. While it was edible, it was definitely odd. The service staff was pleasant and the decor created an interesting atmosphere, but sadly, the food didn't live up to the positive ratings I'd seen. Perhaps the other dishes on the menu are fantastic. After I asked for the check, it took longer to receive it than it did for me to finish my entire meal, which wasn't ideal either. This was just my experience, so it might not reflect the usual standard!

The wait for our main courses was even longer—over an hour. When they arrived, we discovered that once again, one of our meals was missing, along with all of our rice dishes, which we had specifically ordered to accompany our entrees. We had to wait over 10 minutes for the missing items to come, during which time all of the other food was completely cold. The staff appeared unconcerned about this situation and did nothing to mitigate the issue, even though they were aware of the delays. When we voiced our complaints at the time, we were offered a 10% discount. However, we were told that this would be applied to the entire bill, but it only reduced the cost of the food, resulting in a mere £12.50 off for what was a thoroughly inadequate meal. In hindsight, we wish we had simply refused to pay the bill, even with the discount. Receiving cold food and having dishes delivered at staggered times amongst the same table is utterly unacceptable. The staff's apparent indifference to our complaints was incredibly frustrating. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

Ok Thai Restaurant. Not the cheapest and not the best either. Very beautiful decoration, really atmospheric! The curry I tried it was a bit plain and not a lot of content inside either.

This is a fantastic Thai restaurant, one which it is always a pleasure to go to. The food is delicious and comes in very genorous portion sizes, try the starter platter if you are in the mood to share and then have either a classic green or red chicken curry or one of their fantastic seafood curries it is making my mouth water just writing this review! The wine list is great, with some succulent reds and very refreshing roses. The quality of food here is unsurpassed for miles and miles around, and is not let down by the service which is both quick and with a smile. They also do more 'traditional ' style Thai food from, I believe, the north of the country, which is much more communal and involves everyone paying a chunk for the food, much like a set menu. There is a special area of the restaurant given over to this style of dining where everyone sits on cushions on the floor around large round tables and for ages I have been dying to try it out!
