Sushi Ai - Chesterfield

NEVER and EVER ordered food and come here!!!!!I’m currently sitting here at my booth writing this review. Nobody said HELLO to us or even what did I want to eat. We did the all you can eat and was really disappointed in the foodThe rolls had no taste, the fish was not fresh, and the nigiri was all rice with a hint of fish on top. I would compare this to buffet sushi (if not worse). The rolls were honestly so gross I couldn’t eat them. Imitation crab tasted like plastic. I won’t be coming back, which is unfortunate because this is so close where we go.

My kid I stopped here for lunch at the suggestion of a good friend and we were not disappointed at all and were definitely full at the end of our meal.We both ordered the all you can eat option and we were ready for an adventure. The first thing that was a little confusing and was not explained at all by the server is that this is not a traditional buffet experience. You are handed several special paper menus and two pencils in which you would mark down what you wanted and then it would be prepared and brought out to you. This was very confusing to begin with since we did not know the etiquette at the restaurant and did not want to offend or look foolish.Once you place your order your food is prepared and brought out to you the food was quite enjoyable but unlike a traditional buffet where you could try one piece before going back for more you have to order entire rolls for most of the menu options. The option on the menu is 1 appetizer, 6 sashimi and 3 rolls of sushi and a desert as a standard order. THIS IS A LOT OF FOOD!We ended up trying to order a second time with less things chosen so that we could get our money's worth but when you realize you are charged extra for any uneaten food, normally .50 per sashimi and a dollar per roll. This can add up fast. Also, on a lot of the rolls are very thick with an unusually large amount of rice being used. Now I have to say we were impressed by the flavors we encountered, the food was very good but when you look at the investment it comes up a little short. Two all you can eat meals are $23 each, two sodas is $6, we ended up with uneaten food at the end that cost us an additional $6. All in all at the end of the meal we ended up spending just over $60 for two people.We are going to try a different location next time to see if this is the standard practice or just for this particular facility, but if you are hungry go ahead and stop by for the experience, but bring a full wallet to cover the cost.

Seems like every Sushi Ai is different. I will say this one is the worst. Fiah was dry. Walked vy the sushi bar 90% of the fish was uncovered door was open to sushi. So when we got our order. Needless to say, the fish was dry, with not a lot of flavor. Unfortunately not worth the 23.99 when i got our bill at the end they charge me a dollar for every sushi not ate. Wtf who does this. Honestly best practice to stay away from sushi at Chesterfield. Sure glad the one in Ballwin is NOT this way

If you like sushi and want a lot of it, this is the place! Sushi Ai has left me feeling full and satisfied every time with good food and great staff. It has gotten a bit more expensive for recently, and that’s the only reason I can’t bump this to 5 stars.Definitely recommend.

We politely greeted the host hoping at the very last to get acknowledged back, but she just ignored us. She then walked us to our table and slapped the menus down without saying a single word. I then noticed she had aipods in both ears(which is fine if you at least say something).We usually go to the Sushi AI near forest park (we are regular customer and never have had this type of experience) and they are amazing but I'm not sure how good the food could possibly be at this location with this type service. We decide to walk out because we wanted a good experiences.
