Rope Loft Dining Room - Chester

Lovely and cose pun directly at the water front at Chester Bay . The inside feels really warm and cosy and tables are covered in old sea charts . Terasse seating is available. Can recomment all seafood items - my favorites are the mussels and the sea food chowder- or just hang out for a pint of beer .

Come an hour (or two) early and have drinks on the deck before enjoying your dinner. No better place for Chester ambiance.

You go to Rope Loft for the atmosphere, which means being right on the water, not just on Water Street, but literally steps away from the bay and its resident watercraft. There are two decks, one upstairs and one downstairs, and those hard working servers trudge their food and drinks up and down a wood staircase. So they are tough, but still very friendly. This is not fine dining, but rather some pretty good pub grub. Stick with pub fare, lean back and enjoy the views and salt air. If you try and get fancy, you might be disappointed. Even the interiors have an authentic nautical feel. Not sure how long it's been here, but it seems to have been here a long time.

Ordered seafood chowder to start - Excellent; fried clam special -good - Cesar with grilled Salmon -very good

This place was one of the best restaurants that my husband and I went to on our trip! The staff was friendly and our food was prepared quickly. We had mussels, the club and fish and chips. It was all excellent. The option of two decks means you always have a chance for a nice outdoor spot. Definitely worth a stop!
