The Vines At Carden Park

Last week, we celebrated our daughter's 18th birthday at The Vines. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant - the food was outstanding and the service was top-notch with great attention to detail. A special thank you to Patryk and Farid for making our evening so memorable. We will definitely return.

To start off, I would like to note that this review may be based on a one-time experience or due to a possible issue with the staff the night we visited, which is unfortunate. This reservation was made for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the restaurant's ambiance and the attentive host. We decided to order the tasting menu. However, our first course arrived before our drinks, which was not a major issue. Throughout the dinner, we were offered a menu to see what dishes were coming next, but some items were not brought to us as promised, such as bread and other courses. The wait between courses ranged from 20 to 40 minutes, resulting in over three hours spent at the restaurant. Although we appreciate the tasting menu as an experience, we spent a significant amount of time either waiting for the next course or with empty plates in front of us. Towards the end of the meal, the service slowed down and we began to wonder what was happening. The main course of Guinea fowl was delicious, but we did not receive two other courses listed on the menu, including the pineapple sponge and cheese. When asked if we wanted coffee or more drinks, we declined and the meal abruptly ended without the expected petit fours. The bill included a 12.5% service charge, but I mentioned to the staff that the service was disappointing and had dampened our special dinner. They promptly removed the service charge and a bottle of wine from the bill, for which we were grateful. However, at a total cost of £166, the experience did not seem worth it. While the food was tasty, the service fell short of expectations and what was advertised for a fine dining experience.

During our two-night stay at Carden Park, we dined at The Vines on our first night to celebrate our anniversary. It was truly exceptional. We opted for the tasting menu along with the prestige wine pairing, which was a bit expensive but well worth it as it is our annual indulgence. The quality of the food was outstanding, and our sommelier, Patryk, did a fantastic job selecting wines to complement each course. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines. The rest of the staff were also exceptional, providing a relaxed and luxurious dining experience. We can't wait to return!

Fabulous fine dining worthy of at least 1 and probably 2 Michelin stars but at a lot cheaper price. My wife and I ate there for my birthday choosing the tasting menu. I'm vegetarian and my wife isn't which was not a problem for the professional but friendly staff. Food was great especially the 1st course and the desserts. The pastry chef is clearly very talented with both the pre-dessert and the dessert and the petit fours outstanding. I'm not going to detail each course as that would spoil it for you. You should just go! We've eaten in 2 star restaurants paying double the price so think that Vines is a great bargain.
