Unfortunately as we were in two rooms our daughter hadn’t got one. The staff immediately rectified this and Lucy secretly left one in our other room. Susan was so lovely with our daughter and explained the Easter bunny hadn’t realised we were in two different room. She also made a huge fuss of Her and asked questions regarding her interests. We felt very welcome and looked after. Thank you
After staying at this restaurant a couple of weeks ago, we decided to return as we were going to do some Christmas shopping. Once again, it did not disappoint. From check-in to check-out, the service was great throughout. The room was lovely and clean, the bar had a very chilled vibe and fabulous staff, and the restaurant offered views of the gardens. We noticed they also have outside pods that you can dine in for an extra cost (we will definitely be doing this next time). The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The pool was great and we didn't want to leave. Thank you once again for a really lovely stay, we will be back.
We recently had a delightful afternoon tea at Abbots Wells. One standout aspect was the exceptional service provided by Lucy. From greeting us at reception to escorting us to our table in the restaurant, her focus on detail and prioritizing the customer was outstanding. Our table had a lovely view of the grounds, and she made sure we were comfortable on a sunny afternoon. The food was delicious, and Lucy's attentive care to ensure we had everything we needed showcased exemplary customer service. Kudos to Lucy for upholding a standard of service that is often hard to come by these days - she truly is an asset to Abbots Wells. Martin and Julie.
I had Piri piri chiken. It was bland and dried out with burned extremities. With a big change in menu, chef and decor, the experience could be great. This wasn't.
My fiancé and I stayed at the hotel for the weekend and decided to try the restaurant on the first night. What a huge mistake. We ordered bread and oils as a starter while we waited for our meals. Unfortunately, the focaccia bread was stale and cold, and it seemed like they didn't even bother to warm it up. Instead of using a balsamic reduction in the olive oil, they used vinegar. Our main course was even worse. We both ordered the sweet and sticky pork belly with rice and crispy cabbage. It was truly terrible. The pork belly was grilled too long, causing the fat to burn instead of crisp up. The sauce seemed like it was just hoisin sauce poured straight from the bottle on top. It was neither sweet nor sticky. As for the crispy cabbage, it was more like over-fried chunks of cabbage with no seasoning. It was practically burnt leaves. As a chef myself, I would be ashamed to serve such food. It seems like the chef has lost their passion for cooking or just wasn't very good to begin with. We didn't even have the opportunity to complain, and the waitress didn't check on us despite there only being two tables in the restaurant. We only saw her when we went to pay, and even then, she didn't ask if everything was okay. It seems like she knows the food is terrible. The only part of the meal that was decent was the rice. Thank goodness for Uncle Ben's.
