Spice Room - Cherwell

We used to order takeout from this restaurant about twice a month for a few years. It was our favorite curry house in the area, but recently my husband got food poisoning from here and was very ill for a few days. He suspects it was the rice, as it tasted off. We later found out that their hygiene rating has been consistently low for years. It's disappointing because we want to support our local restaurant, but we can't take the risk of ordering from here again. We hope they improve their hygiene standards so we can return in the future.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food came fast and tasted very good and good prices. recommended!

Food was good as always but the service was poor. The main waiter really could not be bothered. Noticed very few customers in the restaurant and the phone hardly rang for takeaway orders. Now I discover they have a Zero food hygiene rating and even at best a few years ago it was only a two star. They need to address this ASAP as they will not survive with poor service and a zero hygiene rating. I notice they do not display the green hygiene certificate in the window any more.

We enjoy the food and service at this restaurant for takeout orders. However, we recently found out that Spice Rooms in Bodicote received a very low hygiene rating from Cherwell District Council. They received a grade of 1 out of 5 in 2019 and a grade of 0 in August 2022. It would be reassuring to hear from Spice Rooms addressing these concerns.

Love the food, love the service....shame about the view to the courtyard with old furniture etc, great for take away and dining in. we use this regularly thank you , an unexpected treasure in a village. no parking, just on the road
