Ambience is the highlight! All see foods were awesome. Hot and sour chicken soup is a must try.
Thoondil is so far the best restaurant in Chennai for sea food. The ambience was great with outdoor seating under a hip roof and swans roaming around you. Good for a group of friends and the service was quick enough. There are fishes and crabs for display that can be picked and will be prepared fresh. The dishes were all spicy and we loved the flavour. Must try items are crab soup, full fish with BBQ sauce, pepper squid and fish curry with rice. Not a budget one, but worth spending for the good sea-food.
Thoondil is an offbeat place away from the city. <br/ Location: Few kms away from sholinganallur-Ecr road towards Mahabalipuram<br/ <br/ Ambience: Fantastic ambience with cool huts around with plenty of trees and fountains which added beauty to the place.<br/ <br/ Parking: will have parking issues though as there is no big parking space outside the restaurant but like a normal space like anyother ECR restaurants<br/ <br/ Food: the place is famous for sea foods and it has plenty of options for the same<br/ We can choose the sea food option from the freezer and they can weigh and estimate the price for us. <br/ Following are the food we tasted:<br/ <br/ 1. Tawa fish <br/ We chose a fish koduva fish from the freezer waiter estimated it to be 800rs for a full medium sized fish weighing around 400grams <br/ <br/ Taste: OMG the taste was just awesome
We love a good tawa fish fry, and this is a good grilled chilli fish with lots of flavoured masala
