Loree's Chalet - Chemult

This breakfast spot is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I stopped here after leaving Crater Lake while traveling, and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, fast service, and delicious eggs and bacon. The restaurant has a cozy diner feel to it, and they really know how to do breakfast right. We will definitely be coming back.

As soon as we entered the restaurant, the server greeted us with annoyance. We ordered some waters and wings to start, but when the wings were brought out a few minutes later, they seemed to have been microwaved. To our surprise, we were given the check even before receiving our appetizer. After requesting to order the rest of our meal - a burger, BLT, and mozzarella sticks - we were disappointed to find that the burger was made with a thin frozen patty, the mozzarella sticks came with ranch dressing (?), and the bacon on the BLT was burnt. It was evident that the fries had been fried in old oil. Overall, we were not impressed with the food or service. We suggest trying out the nearby restaurant KJ's instead. This is the first negative review I have ever written on Yelp and I spent $46 here, hoping to avoid getting sick. Save yourself the trouble and skip this restaurant.

Fine for where it is at (there are very few sit down restaurants anywhere close by). Sandwiches were pretty standard, steak was still cold in places, and sides were run of the mill diner quality. I saw some people with the prime rib, which looked pretty good, but unfortunately they were sold out by the time I ordered.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way from Washington state to California. Although the waitress was friendly, she seemed inexperienced as she was also the bartender. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my husband ordered the grilled chicken dinner. His 6 oz chicken portion seemed more like 3 oz. The Broccoli Cheddar soup was average at best, being runny. My chicken fried steak was so tough that I couldn't even cut it, even with a sharp knife. The white gravy was cold and the meals were barely warm. The corn on the cob was mushy and soggy, and the salad dressing was extremely salty. The chicken fried steak had a strange taste, as if it was cooked in old oil or chemicals. We were very disappointed with our experience and will not be returning. We should have just grabbed a sandwich at the Pilot station instead.

We drove past and then went back, as the outside of the joint is a bit deceiving. Inside is clean and the breakfast was one of the best. Huge omelette and crispy hash browns. Coffee was good too. Do it!
