We regularly walk our dog in Pittville Park often grab a coffee snack to go at Central Cross. The service is always excellent the coffee is of good quality. Last December we went to the Christmas carol service organised by Central Cross...Cafe for the first time it was festive and fabulous. A well-organised carol concert was supplemented by mince-pies delicious mulled wine. This cafe is excellent for families dog walkers.
I have used this cafe for over twelve years, including before In the Park took it over. It is such an improvement in every way, but over the last two years I have become much less enthusiastic. I appreciate that it is a very popular...cafe and it's hard to keep on top of everything, but yesterday it was so DIRTY at the outside eating tables I felt embarrassed. We had overseas-based British guests and I had to apologise. The ground was littered with plastic spoons, opened sugar package paper, half eaten cake some even resting on the wooden cross bar of the table), grubby and sticky table surface and I could go on. PLEASE get the staff to clean regularly and properly. This comment is not based on a one-off experience but yesterday's has compelled me to write. This general grubbiness is letting the whole place down.
The Central Cross Cafe has had a very tasteful makeover, internally and externally. The inside area has been tastefully modernised whilst keeping the period' feel the building deserves. Much improved seating outside as well, the muddy and wet seating areas are no more! They serve...very good coffees and range of teas, the food caters for all tastes and is of consistently good quality. Especially good bacon and sausage baps reasonably priced. Great position in a wonderful park and excellent for children. Highly recommend, but as it's so popular it may be busy and seating spaces are still at a bit of premium.
Visited the cafe yesterday for the first time since the refurb which looks really nice. Food and drinks still lovely but a shame you now can’t add additional ingredients to the breakfast baps. But nonetheless we will still make it a regular stop. Thank you
