Recommended by family, i took to friends to fortune place and was pleasantly surprised, food, service and value for money, $55 for 3 people. all the old favourites, har gow, sticky rice, char sieu bao, gai laan, hum sui gock, har cheung, daan tart. i have since read the not so good reviews so i am perplexed, did we just get lucky? sat 11 45am after the lion dances for lunar new year.
We went here on the first day of the Chinese New Year and it was not a good experience. Firstly we had a 1 hour time limit, which turned out not to be a problem because the food carts stopped coming after about half an hour. The food itself was mediocre, and there was not much choice. They didn't even have chicken feet. The atmosphere was poor, and there was very little ventilation- the place was cooking! There are less and less high quality yum cha places in Sydney these days, and this is certainly not one of them. You will get nicer food in the food court outside.
Went on a weekday with family and the food was great, everything was delicious. Usually yum cha for a family of 5ppl is pretty pricey but Fortune is very reasonable. Will come again, but will remember it is cash only.
Have eaten yum cha at this place many times before and food has always been good. Not this time. Decided to get some takeaway yum cha dishes today- the prawn dumplings given to me were sour tasting and had completely gone off and couldn’t be eaten. There was also a black hair in the beef tendon dish which was disgusting. Don’t waste your time or money at this dodgy place.
