Lackluster attempt at fine dining. Close but not yet. Compliments: Location, setting, menu, hostess most staff. Steak Frites wonderful esp the Primal Sauce. Fra Diablo also wonderful. Salads very nice Suggestions: Buy martini glasses. And research and perfect a dirty martini. The two attempts served to us were significantly different and both terrible. Steaks served to our table and to an unrelated table next to us were also terrible. Guests next to us could not stop complaining while they waited for another steak order. Ordered a flourless cake to go which was eventually boxed and placed in a bag. Opened box 15 min later at home. Unclear what's in the box...see pic. Appears that leadership/management passion is lacking and clearly not exhibited throughout the staff. Most seem to care in general but lack passion. Unlikely we'll return.
It's a very elegant restaurant, and we had an awesome waiter. The French onion soup was nice, but not great. The broccolini was was very good (the highlight of the meal for me). I had a gingerbeer mocktail that was excellent. My dinner companion asked for medium rare steak, and got rare. Luckily he doesn't mind rare. He was reasonably pleased with his meal I asked for medium, and got **** the for time, sent it back, got it back still very ****. It went back a second time and apparently annoyed the chef because it came back burnt, dry and tough. I was only able to eat part of it. I get far better steaks at home and at Texas Roadhouse. The meal was extremely overpriced for the quality of what we got. We were comped for my ginger beer and for one of the $8 non alcoholic raspberry lemonades we got. I would not recommend this place for anything other than interesting drinks and lovely decor.
I was there for the gentle opening. The building is a historic old bank, completely renovated with elegance and class. There is a nostalgic feeling when restaurants and drinks were important. I started with a cocktail that was great, and then a red wine with a great fillet. Finish the night with a tawny port and ice. Interesting fact, there is a fireplace in the men's bathroom. I wonder if it will be in winter. The bathroom has a towels for drying hands. Very elegant. Sits about 80 and had a great bar. Abraham can make amazing drinks according to your preferences. Private room upstairs can hold 40. I have the feeling I will visit it for many occasions in the future.
I was taken here for my birthday last year and it was one of the best if not the best culinary experience ever. From the time we went into the door until we left the door, it was amazing. Steak, sides, dessert and drinks were fabulous. Oh, the service was impeccable!! It was an emotional experience for me when I worked for 28 years in this building (Bank of America). Such good memories of the bank. One of the owners gave us a tour after dinner. That was so special. I recommend Prime 109 to everyone who wants an unforgettable culinary experience.
