Old Pineville Premium Pub - Charlotte

I'm not sure what to make of this place. It's in a little strip mall in a somewhat sketchy part of town. We went in and were immediately seated at a table, but we were the only ones in the restaurant at a table; everyone else was around the bar, which covers about of the restaurant. We stayed around hours, and for almost all that time, my date was the only female customer in the entire place. I thought that was odd. It was about guys, and then her. Later one other woman came in with a husband. The men at the restaurant skewed much older than I had expected; quite a few grayhaired, balding guys wearing big gold chains. Not really my type of crowd; the others were somewhat younger guys wear baseball caps and the like. Perhaps it's my imagination, and perhaps because she was the only female there, but it seemed as if a lot of men especially the older ones kept glancing at my date, which made things a bit uncomfortable. Based on the restaurant's name, I was expecting something a bit more upscale, like maybe a gastropub, or something more classy. The food was actually ok, better than the ambiance would suggest, and was reasonably priced. The drink list was just ok, but not exceptional in either selection or price for midlevel draft beer was the weekday special that night. Unfortunately, the menu they have posted online was not the same one in the restaurant. We had already chosen our meals beforehand based on the online menu, only to discover what was actually available differed e.g., no flank steak as the online menu suggests; on the other hand, there were several Greek items e.g., gyro not listed online. The waitresses were nice and helpful, though we did wait a bit toward the end before being offered a check. Definitely not a place for a romantic meal or for a group of young people. Perhaps will be ok to watch a game when football season arrives, as they have a fair number of TVs around the place, like a typical sports bar

We had a really good meal, including appetizers of black and blue chips and pickle chips; hamburgers and tenderloin. Service was really good and very accommodating. Good beer list

Not really my kind of crowd; the others were a little younger guys wearing baseball caps and the like. Maybe it's my imagination, and maybe because she was the only woman there, but it seemed like a lot of men were shining on my date, especially the older ones, which made things a little unpleasant. Based on the name of the restaurant, I expected something more sophisticated, such as a gas drip or something more classic. The food was indeed ok, better than the ambiance would suggest, and was reasonably expensive. The beverage list was simply ok, but not exceptional in the selection or price $4 for medium level design beer was the weekday special this night. I was in town for the night of an international flight we decided to try this place from Becuase, it was near our hotel. The server we had was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious I really liked the coconut shrimp. It wasn't an appetizer I expected from a bar, but I'm glad I ordered it! I had a burger bigger than your average burger, but maybe everything in the south is bigger? The food portions were generous and the atmosphere was very covered and welcoming.
