French Quarter Bistro

Not what I was expecting- we were way over dressed. I put in the notes it was our anniversary. We were sat at a table that viewed the bus station. When our waitress called us a taxi we were told it would be 12 minutes it was 25. We were actually asked to leave and to wait outside (there were plenty of empty tables and no one waiting for a table) we had just spent $130 on dinner and we were asked to wait outside. Where we had homeless people haggling us. When our taxi driver finally arrived he took us WAY out of the way to the Westin and charged us double what we paid on the way there. I wouldn’t let this restaurant call us a taxi. The taxi even stopped for gas, and was fighting with people. We did not feel safe!! We would never return to this restaurant and it was not a great place for anniversary- this was a crappy bar.

The food, atmosphere and service was great. Myles, our server was beyond outstanding. His energy, humour and general attention to service made the evening awesome. There were 8 people in our group and we all felt the same. Even as we were leaving, Myles raced to the front door to say a second good bye.

This was supposed to be a New Orleans style bistro. The shrimp and crayfish gumbo had zero roux in it. It was thickened with something that might have used flour but there was none of that dark roux flavor. On top of this was the uncle Ben’s style rice. So sad to have taken my wife there. Now I must show her at home what it was supposed to taste like.

We came on the last night of our vacation and I wish we had come sooner so we could have visited more than once (and had time to eat our leftovers)! Our server. Miles, was SO friendly, so helpful and just generally made our experience extremely pleasant! The food was delicious and very fresh tasting. This turned out to be one of our favorite meals of the whole trip and we will be back for sure on our next trip to St. Thomas!
