The chef is an award winning patisserie chef so we had heard the deserts were first class. We were very impressed with the menu which has lots of options. I went for the baked salmon and sundried tomatoe gratin which was excellent. My wife had the chicken curry which was also super. Our son had the pasta bolognese. For desert I chose the sticky toffee pudding and my wife chose the bread and butter pudding. Our son had the cheese cake. The deserts were 1st class. I would highly recommend this restaurent to anyone lucky enough to visit the Charlestown area which is a very quaint town in the West of Ireland. The town has a great history and there is an Oasis connection. The two Gallagher boys mother was born here and retains a presence in the town. Their photos are on the wall of the nearby old world pub Finans when they played there as kids.
Had not been here for years, but went as we were passing through Charlestown there were 5 of us. Was very disappointed at the prices of every main course so way over price. The 3-course early bird was overpriced you wouldn't pick the main dish alone from the early bird menu. Although the food is nicely presented and tasty the prices need to come down a bit.
Called in around 4pm after being on the road all day wanting something that would do us for the evening and this was spot on. 3 good feeds, lasagna and chip, cod and chip and a warm salmon salad. The salmon looked like the highlight was not what was expected and lots of eating in it. Everything was well priced.
I love going to this place. Its cosy, the food is great and the staff is so nice. I have had everything from a quick cup to lunch to Christmas dinner and always been very satisfied. The prices for lunch is very reasonable and the dinners are midrange. The deserts are a huge treat.
The place is clean and pleasant but expensive, for a small portion of baked salmon , with sundried tomatoes gratin, a small bit of side salad which was spinach leaves, beetroot, onions and some chips, 19.95! Chicken fillet burger was tasty but again, tiny side salad and chips. A reasonable price fro the salmon would be 15 tops, and burger 13.95. Just because they won an award once doesn't mean they are still award winning. Only went there because Fox ford Woollen mill had closed early Id go back if they prices were resonable
