Leon's Oyster Shop - Charleston

This is easily a 5-star restaurant and was one of the best meals I have had in a LONG time. Everything, from the service to the atmosphere to the cocktails and the food was incredible. We started with a yummy tequila cocktail and then sampled lots of things across the menu. I am not typically a fried chicken person, but this fried chicken was amazing. Not too breaded and perfectly crispy!

Went on the suggestion of several people and looking at several best of lists for restaurants in Charleston. We got there right at 11am for opening as we had a large group of 10. Wait staff excellent. By the time we left about 75 minutes later, the place was pretty packed. All the food was AMAZING. the fried chicken is great as well as the sandwiches. The Brussel Sprouts are flavorful as are both the hush puppies and scalloped potatoes. Oysters were great. You can order them chargrilled and they are great as well. The atmosphere is great and worth a return visit.

We had lunch on Saturday before Thanksgiving. Arrived at 11:40a and sat at the bar at 12. Bartender was friendly and took our drink order and served us right away. We ordered the fried fish sampler with catfish, shrimp, clam strips, and the black-eyed pea salad on the side, plus two pieces of fried chicken to try. The food arrived quickly and super hot. Our food was all delicious. I'd rank the shrimp first, followed closely by the catfish nuggets, then the chicken and clam. I especially liked the pea salad. We can't wait to come back.

One of our favorite places of our visit to Charleston. Frozen gin and tonic is great. Fried shrimps are the best we ever had. Fried chicken is amazing! Get the Scallop Potatoes and Cole Slav you won?t be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and personal.

My group loved this place! Everything was fresh. The oyster fishing dive started us, we also have a frozen Gin Tonikum. We had the fried chicken breastfish? for the sides we had scalop potatoes, hands down, the best we ever had. We also had the cucumber salad the pea salad, both amazing! Our service was great, Tom took care of us! Very recommended!
