Ladles Soups James Island - Charleston

The reason I’m giving a rating of 3 stars instead of 1 is because of the cook who came out with our food. She went above and beyond by bringing cookies for my son, reassuring him that he hadn't had a bad time at Ladles. She really understood customer service and made a positive impact on our visit.

I really enjoyed all the soups I tried here; some were truly exceptional. The portion sizes are just right for the price. The restaurant itself is clean, and the staff is friendly. However, I did notice some inconsistencies with the pricing. Adding a sandwich to a soup costs an extra $2 to $2.50, but when I ordered, the total came to $9. I expected it to be around $6 to $7. Even the person who served me seemed confused about it. Additionally, their updated menu isn’t available online.

Ladles serves a diverse selection of soups, such as broccoli cheddar and vegetable soup. They also offer grilled cheese sandwiches, along with a variety of other sandwiches and salads.

I first visited Ladles after receiving a kidney transplant in May 2020. They were indeed on a list of places that the transplantation team admitted to post-transplant patients, so I thought... what the duck, we'll try. I'm so glad we did it. From the moment we dropped, Ladles has become one of my favorite places in Charleston. Every time we are in town, we drive there for some of the best soups/sandwiches we had. Now is my favorite of the club with turkey chili. They offer several sub-options. The soup is always fresh, tasteful and piping hot. She service is also wonderful. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. Great place to dine!

No she crab?!? Been going here forever. Everything is good. It?s a great option for something other than fast food. Unfortunately though, Ladles just isn?t Ladles without the she crab soup. It?s the primary reason we go there. No she crab soup Sunday-Thursday and out by 4 o?clock on Friday? Four stars because I know it?s still great and I hope things will get back to normal.
