If you're looking for an upscale steakhouse, keep looking. The Farm House served one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! The menu is straightforward and unpretentious, giving you the feeling of being in Frontier Land. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. It was an amazing experience, and we will definitely be back!
Our server brought our drinks along with a complimentary relish plate that included pickles, carrots, celery, a radish, and small portions of liver pâté and cheddar cheese spread. I preferred the cheese over the pâté. Our server was knowledgeable and answered our questions about the menu. I ordered the beef tips while my husband opted for the strip steak. Both main courses came with a baked potato and a salad. The salad featured iceberg lettuce, cucumber, croutons, and onion, but I requested mine without onion. Thankfully, I’m not allergic to onion, as it seemed like they had simply removed it from a pre-made salad. The dressings were served on the side, and our server also provided a small dish of bacon bits for the salads, although I'd have preferred real bacon crumbles. The beef tips were good but not what I expected. They consisted of several thin slices of steak, each about three or four bites, served on a sizzling platter with sautéed green bell peppers and a baked potato. The strip steak, on the other hand, was more substantial. Both dishes came with a triangle of Texas toast that lacked flavor. The server provided butter and sour cream for the baked potatoes. By the time we finished our main courses, we were too full for dessert. I learned that the only dessert made in-house is the Farmhouse pie—a pecan shortbread crust layered with cream cheese, vanilla pudding, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream; the rest of the desserts are sourced from vendors. The ambience is reminiscent of the early 1970s. The restaurant has been around since 1969, according to our server. It features a dark, rustic decor, with each table illuminated by an oil lamp. I definitely needed my reading glasses to see the menu. The walls are adorned with old farm equipment, and we sat near a fireplace with gas logs. The tables are accompanied by mismatched chairs, some more comfortable than others. Now that we've dined here, we're looking forward to returning on a night when they're open.
We visited the restaurant last night and had a fantastic experience. If you enjoy steak, this place is a must. It’s refreshing to dine somewhere that offers a unique experience. This restaurant perfectly exemplifies what I believe a dining establishment should be. They focus on a few dishes and execute them exceptionally well—no pasta options, no extensive appetizer menu, just one chicken dish, one tuna option, and a pork chop. Even the wine selection feels secondary, priced between $25 and $35 per bottle. For a great price, you get an excellent steak and potato dinner, complemented by extremely friendly service both at the entrance and at the table. The atmosphere feels timeless, like a well-oiled machine. Amy, the current owner, shared that the restaurant has been family-run since 1969. It’s impressive that, despite their bustling pace, the kitchen is currently managed by just one chef who has been there for 13 years. Their focus on a limited menu allows them to run a highly efficient operation.
The food was absolutely wonderful, and the service was both pleasant and prompt. We couldn't have asked for anything more. This restaurant has a classic steakhouse vibe, complete with cheese and relish served as soon as you're seated. It's refreshing to see a place that keeps the tradition of the old-fashioned steakhouse alive. The ambiance is cozy, with dark, candlelit surroundings that add to the overall experience.
