All dishes make you want: charcuterie and cheese boards, foie gras, beefs, fondues, egg calf. the list of wines is impressive with the wines of burgundy and burgundy, but also good local and accessible wines. prices are not excessive for sight and sight in the middle of the mountains. We'll be back with pleasure!
We arrived at the restraunt after a sterling recommendation, only to be greeted with complete disarray. The waiters waitresses clearly do not know how to do their jobs as they completely blanked anyone who came through the door. Eventually after 15 minutes or so, we walked up to a bar where a number of disgrunted to-be-customers were stood, also waiting to be served anything. There were numerous tables empty, but each time we, or others went to sit on them, the waiting staff would finally (and only) interact and scream you could not sit there. Every single member of staff in the building was ignorant, rude and unhelpful. I honestly do not know how they are still in business. I am completely disgusted with how ill-mannered every member of staff was. If you are reading this, please reconsider your mountain train ride to Montenvers. It is a complete waste of money. There is nothing to do at the top, and this is the only restaraunt up there. We came away amongst a crowd of 50+ with the same opinion. Save your money, and spend it in one of the great places down in Chamonix!
Dreadful experience. We stood at the bar for 15 minutes with the chap behind the bar refusing to make eye contact to then eventually be told to move to the left a foot or two to be served, no one came for another 5 minutes at least. During this time my partner tried to find a table and was told the conservatory area was closed despite people still eating in there. We ordered drinks (from the limited availability they had), the waitress spoke no English so I used translator to order and ask her if there was any spare seats, she gestured to the conservatory so upon receipt of our drinks we headed through there and sat down, shortly after we were abruptly told to move, there were now some other free tables in the main bar however we were then told we couldn’t sit there either. So where can we sit? Shrugged shoulders and walked off. The wine was bitter and expensive. The beer not much better. Due to the rudeness and unwillingness to help or staff I would not waste your money in here. I’m just grateful we didn’t order food.
