I stopped by for breakfast and noticed it was mostly empty, except for some friendly regulars who welcomed me warmly. They also have games and coloring materials for kids, which is a nice touch. My breakfast was decent but not anything extraordinary—a typical full English that was well-prepared but didn't stand out. The highlight, however, was the unlimited coffee, which is definitely a bonus! Overall, it was a pleasant experience, though not particularly memorable. I'd recommend it if you're nearby, but it probably isn't worth making a special trip for.
The staff did nothing to help. I even jokingly handed my Fulham Membership card to the bartender and tried to explain that we were in town for the match, but she cut me off mid-sentence and showed no interest. This was incredibly rude, especially since she didn’t appear to be busy. We attempted to strike up a conversation with a few people at the back tables, but they completely ignored us. Feeling unwelcome, we decided to leave and promised ourselves never to return. This was undoubtedly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a bar. In contrast, we received a much warmer welcome at both the King’s Arms and Temperance. During our four days in London, we visited a total of nine pubs and had a fantastic time—except for this one, where we, as Fulham fans supporting our team, were treated poorly.
On match days, this bar caters exclusively to Fulham season ticket holders. While the Fulham fans might not be the most rowdy, they're incredibly loyal, friendly, and love to enjoy a pint or two before our beloved Whites hit the pitch. I’m certainly no exception! As a season ticket holder for Fulham FC, I've visited this bar a couple of times before matches. It's easy to grab a pint here, the prices are relatively affordable, and there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The Golden Lion has several TVs that broadcast earlier matches, often showing highlights and updates. You can expect loud cheers and groans if Chelsea, Manchester United, or Arsenal are underperforming. Take me home, take me home, to the place where I belong, Craven Cottage, by the river. Take me home, take me home...
The food is excellent, showcasing traditional pub fare. We're big fans of the drunken mushrooms and halloumi fries, and I particularly appreciate that the chips are always served piping hot. My daughter and her roommate often go for the fish and chips after long days of classes. I also love that they feel comfortable in a pub that's primarily frequented by men—it's a refreshing change from their college experience in LA. Just a heads-up, don't come here expecting fancy cocktails. There tends to be a long queue at the bar for us ordering pints. They have plenty of drink options, including some fantastic bottled ciders, so it's best to keep it simple. I'm sure the regulars will appreciate that too. And please tell Emma behind the bar we said hi—miss that girl!
