Since the House restaurant, closes at 7, there is nowhere to eat at the National in the evening it needs to address the problem urgently.
By far the worst experience I have ever seen in London. My friend was celebrating her birthday and organised a day in London with a couple of friends. Unfortunately her phone was stolen and this alone ruined her day. By the time we got to the restaurant all she wanted was to put away the sadness and get on with her evening. She ordered all of us a drink and one for herself. The lady who served her was extremely rude and treated her really bad. The raspberry she put in the drink had mould on it ...not worth going in too many details. I just want to say to the lady who served her that, one day she will be down like my friend was last night and someone will return the favor and treat you like you have treatedy fried. My friend broke down in tears and at the request of the manager she came to apologize saying I 'm sorry you were under the impression I was rude to you ... she wasn 't under the impression! You were actually very rude and you should be ashamed of your self!
Ordered taco with mushrooms Received 4 gem lettuce leaves with a bit of mushroom mush for £12. We also ordered a crab roll bit of crab mayo in a greasy bit of bread £18 had to wait 5minutes for cutlery after meal ? Served Overpriced and underwhelming
I have given this restaurant 2 stars because the waiter was absolutely lovely and of the two items of food we received, one was very good. This should be a success, the restaurant is attractive and the menu sounds great. We were going to a play at 730 and arrived at 620, ordered immediately and our wine arrived quickly. We ordered 5 dishes. After 40 minutes 2 of them arrived, the crayfish croquettes (delicious and the lobster and crayfish roll (tasteless, almost no lobster, be honest and call it a crayfish roll with a tiny bit of lobster on the top! We then waited til 720 and then told them to scrap the rest of the dishes as we had to go to the loo and to get a drink. They seemed incapable of doing this and letting us pay so we said we would come back in the interval to do this, though honestly with such a terrible experience I wouldn't expect to pay at all! We went to get some chocolate as we were starving and the waiter (who really was very nice came down with the ipad and we paid while we were in the queue. FGS, this is a restaurant in a theatre, the very least you could do is bring the flipping food in time for us to eat it before the show! The table next to us also seemed to be having terrible service. You need to sort it out, this should be a good place for a quick bite and instead it's an utter shambles. I gather the London Bridge branch is much slicker, maybe someone from there should come down and show you how it's done.
The food is pretty pricey and there's not much lobster in the brioche dish £25 but this is compensated for by friendly staff and a good view. Beware asking for black pepper though as it is banned from use on health and safety grounds! The Manager said that diners could choke on it and this patronising attitude means that I am unlikely to return. Shame!
