The real problem was the service, it took over one hour to get steak and veg when there were only were about 10 people in the restaurant ahead of us, maybe one or two in the bar and from what we saw two takeaways. I really appreciate that it is hard getting staff, but from my observation there was a lot of movement in the kitchen with little outcome, it appears disfunctional. While we were advised the meal would take about 45 minutes there was no follow up conversation or engagement, given that was only four tables waiting in the dining room, this should have been quite easy to do. Love to support local, but wouldn’t go there again.
When we ordered our food, we were informed that there would be a 45-minute wait due to a high number of orders. We agreed to wait. However, after waiting for 1 and a half hours, I inquired about the status of our order only to be told that it had been lost. We waited for another half an hour before deciding to leave. Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on the quality of the food.
This restaurant is a great spot to escape the heat and enjoy a refreshing cold drink and delicious hot lunch in a comfortable setting.
We had dinner at this restaurant twice. The T-bone steaks were the best we've had in months - they were enormous and very tender. The chips were delicious, and the vegetables were tasty and reminiscent of homemade. The chicken parmesan was also excellent. We would definitely dine here again. Don't forget to pair your meal with a Furphys beer from the bar.
It is a country pub. The food is simple pub food. So if you just want a meal in a comfortable old pub with friendly staff. Try the witches kitchen. The locals were getting take away pizza.
