Firewheel Cafe Hyatt Regency Lost Pines

We decided to wait at the bar restaurant for about an hour, but eventually, we were too hungry and chose to try the buffet instead. In hindsight, we regret not waiting for the other restaurant. The buffet was themed "South of the Border," but the food was terrible. Even a basic Mexican restaurant would be ashamed to serve this. The only redeeming dishes were the roasted vegetables and tortilla soup; the rest of the offerings were disappointing, especially considering the price. For two adults and two children, our bill came to $128 before tip, and that didn't even include any alcoholic drinks. Given the quality of the food, what we paid was unacceptable. The only positive aspect of our dinner was our waitress, who was great and very attentive.

The breakfast buffet is excellent, but unfortunately, the dinner is quite disappointing. The food quality is lacking, and only a buffet is available for the evening meal.

Additionally, the menu did not match what was originally described. The buffet was nearly closing down. While there was brisket available, they had run out of several items that had been advertised—no prime rib and no oysters, despite what I had ordered. We were really disappointed. We ate, settled our bill, and left without feeling satisfied. Overall, I feel we weren't adequately informed about the event.

Our family had dined at the Firewheel cafe for Christmas in 2020 and had a very nice experience; however, this year was pretty bad. The food on the buffet likely would not have passed any kind of inspection it was room temperature at best. The buffet line was dirty w/ food spillage along the counter. Instead of cleaning the dried food mess employees were just standing around chatting. Essentially you had to interrupt them to request what you wanted they didn't automatically offer to assist you. The waitress that served our drinks stood there staring at us instead of greeting us and requesting our drink order. Service was also exceptionally slow especially given how few people were dining there. Overall, we were very disappointed in our dining experience there this year. Last year I recommended this place to others I will not be doing that this year.
