Al Piatto Ricco - Catania

Our usual Sunday lunch place Paranza was closed . We saw several tables of local families and a couple of tourists dining outside. We have a dog too so we asked to be seated outside. We were welcomed warmly. There were some special menus written on a plank and sign board . One combination seemed strange 3 pastas on one plate . Pasta Norma, Spaghetti Carbonara,Penne Arrabita glass of house wine 10 euros . I opted for a fillet steak with green peppercorn sauce and potatoes my wife ordered ordered a veal cutlet and tomato and ricotta red onion salad. We had a bottle of grillo white wine after l was assured they had an ice bucket . The wine was well chilled and crisp and dry. We were also given nice big glasses . My steak was cooked perfectly but the cream sauce had split and they were black peppercorns not green. However it tasted really good and was piping hot the potatoes turned out to be chips no matter they too were good . My wife loved her veal and shared my chips in exchange for her salad the tomatoes in Sicily are unrivalled and it was well dressed better than fancy restaurants. We saw others enjoying the 3 pasta dishes l would really struggle to eat all of them but it would be useful if you were not sure what pasta dishes you would like experience 3 for the price of one. Three generations of Italians had every thing on the menu l noticed they did not eat much of the sword fish . But they demolished everything and then brought out from their car a treacle tart put a candle on it and sang happy birthday to there four year old dog. Only in Sicily !! I think for ambience great l suggest they reduce the portion sizes and be more generous with the local wine glass size a great experience all round in one of the best parts of the city . Total price including one fantastic Tiramisu shared 24 euros we were given a complementary Amaru Excellent value for money.

Very tasty food, fantastic wine and great service! One of the best place i went in Sicilia! I will come back to this place for sure!

Authentic Sicilian and Catalan cuisine! Great food and not that bad bill. We will come back soon to try other enzas (the cook) speciality!

We (4 person) had a groupon and were very unhappy withe the wine and the food they served. we ordered scallops with noodles only noodles were served. we ordered scallops with chicken, only chicken on the plate nothing else, panna cotta was served in a little thin plastic bowl.....never had an experiance like this before
