Mod Pizza - Castro Valley

I felt that something was lacking, perhaps it was the seasoning. The ordering process was confusing, and the staff weren't very helpful. Updated from my previous review on May 12, 2024.

The dining area is very comfortable, with a spacious outdoor seating option. The service is attentive when it comes to accommodating dietary restrictions; during my first visit, the servers wore gloves without me having to ask and used a separate pizza knife. However, during my second visit, I had to remind them to follow the same procedures. I appreciate having full control over my pizza's ingredients, including the level of cheese I desire. The standard crust was light enough that I didn’t feel like I was consuming too many empty calories. Overall, it was a fun experience, and I look forward to returning soon! On my first visit, the server promptly changed their gloves and used a separate pizza knife without me asking. But on my second visit, I had to remind them about these precautions. I appreciated the level of customization available for the pizza, allowing you to control the amount of cheese as well. The food was fantastic and perfectly suited for our group, which had a variety of tastes and dietary needs!

I have dined at Blaze Pizza before, which has a similar concept of choosing your ingredients to customize your own pizza. I really enjoyed my experience there, but this restaurant didn't meet my expectations. The staff appeared to be quite unhappy while working, which affected the overall atmosphere. Unfortunately, my pizza turned out bland and lackluster, even with the selection of ingredients I typically enjoy. I'm not sure what was off, but I wouldn't choose to return to this place. It does offer a vegan option if you're in a hurry, but I didn't find it very appealing.
