Ny Pizza Baby - Casselberry

Some friends and I went to NY Pizza Baby a few weeks ago….it was the first time for me, but they’d been there several times. We ordered a pizza and a chef’s salad, and needed 2 different dressings for the salad. The server told us she’d have to charge us .75 for the additional dressing. We said no problem. We waited for the salad to come out, and it was delicious. However, we had no sooner started eating that when our pizza came out! So now, in order not to have to eat cold pizza, we put the salad aside thinking we’d eat more after the pizza. One of my friends asked for more Ranch dressing, and again we were told that it would be .75 extra. Getting a little frustrated now, but we again said okay. When the server brought the dressing to the table, it was half the size (or less) of the one we had originally been given. I promptly stated that if we were going to pay the extra cost for the dressing, we wanted the same size portion as we’d been given before. She left and came back with another small portion, and we were told that the manager said if we wanted the larger one, we would have to pay DOUBLE for it. At that point I had had enough. Now first of all, I want to say that this is NOT the server’s fault, and we told her as much. But I told her that their restaurant had just lost 3 customers, and my friend told her to forget the extra dressing, that she no longer wanted it. So by nickel and diming us to death, they lost our business completely. And my friends live right in that area and had planned to go back on a regular basis. They’ve since changed their minds about that! One other thing I might mention is that, this is not a small restaurant, and as we looked around there was only one other table of 4 customers at 5:00 in the afternoon. My friends have also been there on a Sat. evening around 6:00 and said the place was almost empty. The moral to the story is: don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. My friends and I eat out often, and when we find a place we like, we not only frequent it, but also recommend it to other people. We won’t be doing either one! By the way……..the manager, though I think I saw him a few minutes after the last dressing debacle, never once came to the table to speak to us. Very sad.
