Pura Vida Mexican Food - Carson

This is my new favorite casual Mexican restaurant. Coming from a native southern Californian, that says a lot. We got there a couple hours before closing on Father's Day. The girl who took our order was very friendly and helpful. She brought us complimentary chips and a Tex Mex appetizer while we waited for the main plates. My wife and I shared a plate of the Carne Asada Fries which is very addicting to start. We could/should have really stopped there, but we had also already ordered the Beef Chimichanga. We could only finish half of that between the two of us, but I'm looking forward to having the other half for lunch tomorrow. Don't forget to order a cup of their homemade ginger ale (which they said is pretty popular and sells out when they are busy)!

A hidden gem for Mexican Halal cuisine served with passion! The portion sizes are generous, and the service is excellent. I tried several items and enjoyed all of them: the chicken burrito was packed with flavor, the carne asada fries topped with beef, veggies, and sauces were absolutely satisfying, and the variety of tacos filled with chicken and veggies in a crunchy shell were delightful! The horchata, a refreshing rice milk drink, was also a treat. Plus, they provided complimentary nachos on the side. A special mention goes to their sauces; we sampled four different types, and for each hot sauce, there was a milder version available. The restaurant also features some intriguing artwork.

I found it hard to choose what to order because there were so many appealing options on the menu, but the cashier was incredibly helpful. He was very patient and walked me through the entire menu, highlighting the popular items. The portion sizes for their dishes are impressive—not at all skimpy! I was particularly curious about the fish tacos, and when he showed me the size of the fish used, I was blown away! If you want a real fish taco, this is the place to come—no tiny fish here, lol. Pura Vida truly values their customers' appetites! Now, let’s talk about the taste. The nachos were bursting with flavor, with generous shrimp portions and lots of veggies, along with all the typical nacho toppings. The chips did get a little soggy, but that was to be expected given how loaded they were. I highly recommend checking out this place if you're looking for authentic, hearty Mexican food—Pura Vida has got you covered. My overall experience was fantastic, and I will definitely be back!

I've never had the chance to enjoy non-vegetarian Mexican food, so I was really excited to try it here. It completely surpassed my expectations. Linda was incredibly kind and provided excellent recommendations on what to order. And the food was absolutely delicious!
