The first time they had live music was a nice treat. I got the Romano sampler so I could try several dishes. It was delicious and I could only eat about half. My wife got angel hair Portofino, and she very much enjoyed it. We topped if off with Tiramisu. I haven't found a place that does it better. Until next time! Dietary restrictions: I normally have problems with dairy and gluten, but I don't when I eat here. I think they might import higher quality ingredients.
Food is very good, place is outdated and could use some remodeling asap.
Wow, I've been missing out over the last 10 years. Ate here for the first time in 2014 as part of a work Christmas party. The food was catered basically pre made and I was not impressed. Being part Italian I have really high standards to what true Italian cooking should taste like. So because of this I refused to come back here. Well fast forward 10 years I returned due to the fact that our best friends wanted us to join them for dinner here so I reluctanly accepted their invitation. I decided on the shrimp and scallop pasta. Whoa, the flavor caught me off guard. It was so delicious. The sauce was fresh and rich. The seafood was tender and balanced. The portion was decent. But when you add on the salad and endless garlic knots that by the way were super good and I probably ate too many, no way you go home hungry. Nothing like a great meal with great friends and this place served as the best setting. I sincerely apologize for bad mouthing Portofinos for all these years and thanks for having me back.
Amazing Amazing Amazing! We are from out of town on business, and two of my co-workers recommended this place. The complimentary garlic rolls are to die for, and everything we ordered was just amazing. Bruschetta was the best we ever had. My wife had the lasagna, and I tried something new for me, the Scarpariello! Both were amazing. We will definitely be back there soon next time we are in Greenville! Also had outstanding service from our server, and we were very pleasantly greeted when we arrived. A manager also came around to check on us to see how everything was. Can't wait to go back!
I could not decide between 3 or 4 stars so I gave them four stars because the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Heidi was our server and she was absolutely delightful and very pleasant and a wonderful waitress. The tiramisu we had for dessert was fantastic I do not know if they make it in house but if they do huge kudos to them. The Crux of an Italian restaurant is the red marinara sauce and that is where they need Improvement. There were a lot of chunks of the plum tomatoes in the sauce and the remainder of the sauce was watery period what this tells me is that they need to use an immersion blender and fully blend all of the tomatoes to bring the consistency and texture of the tomato sauce to something that is more palatable. They also need to use red wine in their sauce and use fresh garlic and not the dried herbs that I can tell that they use. The red sauce needs a lot of improvement and unfortunately is such a centerpiece of all Italian dishes. They also need more garlic flavor in the marinara sauce. The meatballs were too dry and used dried herbs and not fresh herbs. To improve the meatballs they could use a combination of beef and pork or use a higher fat content with the beef. This is a nice Italian restaurant for people that are not accustomed to authentic homemade Italian food period. With a few tweaks this could be a very nice Italian restaurant. But as I said before the hospitality of the servers and the host and Hostess staff are absolutely phenomenal
