Went for lunch at new location. It was a refuge from the throngs of people around downtown. Usually we go here when we go to an event like a play or concert and have dinner. We very much enjoyed the she crab soup and I had pastrami sandwich which was an A. However, the potato chips were flavorless. I think fries should be added to any sandwich and not a extra charge or just add a dollar to sandwich charge. My wife had the calamari which she favors a light breading, like tempura but these were pretty heavy in breading which she didn't appreciate. We will still go there for dinner next trip.
After several great experiences over many years, a bump in the road was bound to happen. 'Average ' just wasn 't what I expected at the new venue. The atmosphere is eclectic at best. The wraparound bar has a bland institutional style. The next section is lined with booths and tables flanked by high traffic aisles, high volume dinner style. There 's a separate white linen room that was beyond our reach. Plus, I had the men 's room open door view. As for our meal, a long wait for a bland result regardless of the selection. The Elk was just sweet, same for 2 different shrimp dishes. The same for dessert. Apple bread pudding and a pecan pie so similar they were hard to identify. Nothing was the usual Larkin tasteful experience.
Great location! The inside is very nice and intimate. The food was a bit above average but very overpriced. I probably won’t eat here again, although I had a good time when I came here for a work event.
Nice place, a bit over priced, food was very good, but 50 dollar filet , was not worth the money. The rest of the food was on par.
