My husband is not very adventurous when it comes to food (he's more of a meat and potatoes person), so we kept it simple. I decided to choose three out of four available sauces to add some extra flavor to our meal. The Pork Belly Empanada was delicious; it's a perfect combo when paired with any of the sauces. The Chicken Pot Pie had great flavors and was aptly named; I didn't feel the need to add any sauce to it. My husband ordered the Philly Cheesesteak, hoping to have it without green peppers. I suggested he simply pick them out. He did notice some green pepper flavor, but there were no large pieces, which was a win for him. The Picadillo was also tasty, with enough flavor on its own, so I opted not to use any sauce for that. We ordered wings with barbecue sauce (the only way my husband will eat them). They were good, but I think next time I’ll order them with the sauce on the side to see if they have that perfect crunch. The Pork Adobo Fried Rice, although it didn't look very exciting, was surprisingly flavorful and featured sizable chunks of pork. The dessert options were great too: the Apple Pie Empanada had nice apple chunks, while the Triple Berry Empanada was tasty, but the berries cooked down to such a small size that we actually preferred the apple version. I enjoyed using the sauces with the celery from the wings, but honestly, the empanadas had so much flavor that I didn’t feel the need to dip them in sauces. We definitely ordered too much food and ended up with leftovers. They recommend two empanadas per person, but for a lighter lunch, having two half pieces and a scoop of fried rice was plenty. The dessert empanadas were different in dough and shape from the savory ones, which is a nice touch and helps keep the price down. I'm already looking forward to our next order so I can try their curry and other dishes!
During the summer, my office arranges for food trucks to serve employees, and I had the opportunity to try the empanadas from Savory Crust. They were absolutely fantastic and delicious! I tried the spinach and feta empanada, and it was quite filling. The meal also came with elote and churros, which were equally tasty. The service from the food truck crew was excellent; they were very prompt and accommodating. Our entire team was thrilled and gave this one a thumbs up! Meal type: Lunch.
